Scavenger Hunt Sunday, On Time

So, this week I was much more on top of things and got my act together somewhat.  So, here we go.

1.  Routine.

This is my routine: reading.  This week is the last week of the term (our school divides the school year into four terms of eight weeks each) before finals week and this is the stack of books I've read in the last 7 weeks.  Okay, so that's a little misleading, we only have to read sections from some of the books.  However, we do read about 600-800 pages per week.

2. Music

This one was hard for me.  Not that I don't have a lot of music around, but I didn't just want to take a picture of some sheet music and since I already used my iPod for the technology one, I figured this flower I made last year out of old sheet music would do the trick.

3. Technology

I might kind of be a little teeny little bit addicted to Temple Run.

4.  Show Me Your Style

I'm an accessories kind of girl and so I thought the best way to do this one would be to show you my top tens.  My top ten pairs of earrings, shoes, and necklaces.

5. Mismatch

This is the wall above my desk: my "art wall."  As you can see, it's made up a random assortment of things, but it does make me happy, and I like to think there's a red theme that pulls it all together.

Picture This. . .

Imagine you're me.  And all of a sudden the realization hits you that you've pledged yourself to doing SHS each week, and then you realize that it's Sunday and THEN you realize that you really have no usable pictures (even by you standards, which are very, very loose.  I don't break the rules, I just bend them) and then it gets even better.  You realize that you are home alone without anyone or anything to take pictures of and the ONLY thing to do is a narcissistic photoshoot with your tripod and timer.  Oh well.

I bring you ME. Presented without comment.
(Don't worry they're not ALL of me.)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday is Back Again

In an attempt to make sure that my new-found posting power does not fizzle and die, I'm going to commit myself to doing SHS each week.  That way, there'll be at least one post a week, hopefully.  So, without further ado. . .

Love: A pretty carnation from Valentine's Day.

Duplicate: This is a bit of (unfinished) embroidery
I've been working on for the last week or so.  It's based off  this beautiful bit of medieval art.

Trend: Bows are a big trend right now, and I have to say, this is one wagon I've jumped right on.  It's just an easy way to add a feminine touch.  Especially when you're wearing a thrifted man sweater (as I may or may not be in this picture).

Paper: Last week we had to read a book about illuminated manuscripts in one of my classes (that's where I got my embroidery inspiration).  So many beautiful and amazing pieces of art.  Wow.

Plastic: Okay, technically this is made of rubber.  But, in my defense, it's nearly 12:30 and I have absolutely nothing else for this one (due to my a-MAH-zing planning skillz).  So.  There.  It's a stamp made by my roommate's brother.  Pretty cool, eh?

Snow Makes for Lovely Pictures

On Saturday it snowed.  Big, wet, lovely flakes that didn't stick around for long, but made for a lovely photoshoot.  I grabbed Susanna, my roommate, and we ran outside for a photoshoot.

Two Posts

What is this madness, you ask. Two posts in the same lifetime?  It cannot be.  But actually, it is.  These are some older pictures that I took over Christmas break and I'm trying to update my portfolio, ya know?

Thanks to my model too.  Abby, whom you might recognize from her blog, is my sister.  And yes, these are from two different photoshoots.  Actually, we don't really do 'photoshoots,' we do 'hey the light's really cool right now get your shoes on we're taking pictures' or possibly 'hey it's snowing, get your shoes on we're taking pictures.'  Whichever.

Me Again. . .

So, at the end of the last post I technically did warn you that it might be a while before I posted again. However, I didn't think that it was going to be this long. I've been busy, but that wasn't really the problem.  For the last few months I've been in such a creative slump. Well, not exactly. I'm a girl who needs a creative outlet, but I've discovered recently that it doesn't much matter what that outlet is. Once I get my creativity fix, I don't have any creativity left for other things. So, at the beginning of the school year I began making jewelry, and then I started embroidering, and then after that I picked up crocheting.  Doing all these other crafts left me feeling uninspired and blah about photography.  One of the things I'm trying to do this year is learn to balance all these different crafts and not use up all my motivation on just one.

I'm going to try to be more regular with my blogging (at least one post every two weeks) but we'll see.

Today, my roommates and I went and did a photoshoot and it was the first time in months that I've gotten really excited about pictures.  Enjoy.
